Welcome to the Internet Archive collection of data dumps from NSindex, an unofficial encyclopaedia about Jennifer Government: NationStates, an online browser-based game. This item is part of a series of measures to reduce the risk of losing community-curated NationStates history.
About the data dumps
This collection contains data dumps of publicly-accessible articles and pages, as it appeared on a given date.
All text on NSindex is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 License (CC-BY-SA).
Images and other files may have different licensing terms (as detailed on their description pages): this is why it is not possible for NSindex to include them in the monthly data dumps.
How to use the data dumps
All NSindex data dumps are "zipped" XML data dumps.
Once you extract the XML file from the archive, you can either use a wiki reader such as WikiTaxi or XOWA, or import it to a local copy of MediaWiki to read the data dump.
If you are importing to a local MediaWiki installation, please refer to the enclosed readme file (PDF) for the list of extensions that NSindex currently uses.
Continuity plans
NSindex has a continuity plan to ensure that editors who have contributed to NSindex can easily export their articles and images in a native format, if the webmaster (Minoa) dies or becomes incapacitated for any reason.
If such a situation occurs, the encyclopedia will be made read-only, and an emergency data dump, with all images and historical revisions, will appear in this collection, as well as on NSindex.
To save space for the Internet Archive, only the latest full data dump will appear here.
About NSindex
NSindex (or the NationStates Index) is an unofficial encyclopedia about Jennifer Government: NationStates, an online browser-based game.
NSindex was created by Minoa, a player on NationStates, and first went online in February 2013.
Minoa originally created NSindex as a ‘classic’ revival of Goobergunchia's now-defunct NSwiki.net, which closed in November 2013. Since then, NSindex has attempted to cover various parts of NationStates, from gameplay to roleplay, the game’s technical aspects, and the forum community in general.
